Art and Psychology

My work is the product of small, individual, and sometimes unrelated experiments which I later develop into assemblages or installations. I gather natural materials like fruit, sand, and stones, or simply use junk, or recognisable objects found in the garage, or kitchen drawer. Although I prefer to work with clay, metal, and fabric as materials; I am always on the lookout for new media so long it supports “the concept” or idea I am trying to convey.

My challenge is to strike a balance between what I wish to share with my audience, and distancing them at the same time. Through my work, I aspire to pose questions regarding political and social forces, control systems, and the human body. Jac-il-moat [Death’s Calling] is an example of an installation where I draw attention to one of Man’s most destructive weapons: Landmines.

The minefield I created mimics a natural setting or scrubland with “unseen substrates” that otherwise possess the potential to support our existence as a species, nevertheless, is littered with man-made “interventions”.
