My practice explores the relationship between sculpture and moving image, focusing on large, anthropomorphic forms developed from drawings of negative space, the ‘Chrysalis’. Through my video works I have explored the coexistence between the body and sculpture and how we interact with both industrial and natural environments. I have abstracted the Chrysalis motif throughout my practice using hand and machine knitting and embroidery. The regeneration of the Chrysalis is central to my work which explores the slow and repetitive practice of making. Inspired by mid 19th century hoop skirts, the final Chrysalis iteration is a tiered wearable sculpture, which can be worn in multiple variations.
